FAQs

How long does therapy take?

Each person comes to therapy for different reasons, with different goals, and different life circumstances. As a result, the length of time therapy takes varies for each person.

How often would we meet?

At the start of therapy, I find it most helpful when clients attend sessions on a weekly basis. This helps me to develop an accurate understanding of your needs and come up with a treatment plan to help you reach your goals. It’s important that we periodically discuss your progress in our sessions to adjust our plan if needed. When symptoms are improved, we can reduce how often we meet to biweekly, monthly, or as needed.

What do telehealth sessions look like?

Telehealth allows us to meet for session via a live video conference and are very helpful to individuals who find in-person appointments inconvenient, or just prefer being in their own space.

In order to participate in telehealth sessions, you will need internet connection and a computer or smartphone that has a camera and microphone. At the start of session, you will receive a link by email that you would just simply click. By clicking that link, we will each be connected by video to see and talk to each other.

You will also be asked to sign up for a free, confidential patient portal. Through the portal, you will be able to contact me in-between sessions, schedule sessions, and pay for sessions.

What do I do in sessions?

Every session will be different and tailored to you and your needs. My approach can be more eclectic or structured. But in general, you can plan to discuss anything currently happening in your life, personal history as it relates to our discussion, and any progress you have seen since the last session.

In session, I like to provide hands-on tools such as coping skills or exercises that you can practice outside of session to continue the progress you’ve made and empower you to manage your emotions/issues as they arise.
